As Don and Dottie Thomas bid a fond farewell to their roles on the Friends’ Board of
Directors, Drs. Storb and Torok-Storb have picked up the reigns to see the Foundation into
the future.
Dr. Torok-Storb acknowledges that "there is no one quite like Dottie; her shoes will be
hard to fill." Dottie has successfully seen Friends through, from its inception in 1990 to
the present. Dr. Torok-Storb has indicated her appreciation of Dottie’s willingness to remain
available for advice.
Dr. Rainer Storb recently attended the annual board meeting of the Friends’ parent foundation
in Barcelona. Dr. Storb was happy to have an opportunity to get to know Mr. Carreras a bit
better. He appreciated his down-to-earth demeanor.
Both of the Storbs value the generosity of the Friends’ donors, which makes it possible to
continue to award annual research fellowships. Funding is difficult for young investigators to
obtain and the Friends Foundation provides an excellent opportunity for such support.
